It has been quite a year!

Well all I can say is ...."It has been quite a year". On July 18th I tripped over a garden hose and fell on the concrete and broke my knee and shattered my elbow. Ouch!!! What a "life changing" experience.

I spent 11 days at an intense rehab and then was transferred to Courtland Terrace where I spent the next 3 1/2 months. The rehab there was slight compared to what I had received at the first place....but at 38K for 11 days you can't do much of that!!! I had a 2nd surgery on my elbow in August and finally came home the first week in November!

While I was at CT I made it a point to focus on my recovery and not think about going home...that is how I made it. I love to crochet so as soon as the cast was removed from my arm I got busy making hats and scarves. I would sit in the dining room and the residents would gather around to watch and talk. It was amazing the number of friends I made and before long I knew all their names and a little about each one. Some of them were full time residents ...and some were just there for rehab.

I enjoyed doing crafts with the activities group and suggested we have a fashion show with my hats. It was a huge success and all those that participated had a great time. I have been back to visit 3 times and think about my friends there everyday. I will be visiting more often as soon as I am able to drive. It is amazing how much I enjoyed my stay at CT not ever down playing how unfortunate it was to be there so long.
